In the autumn of October, as the leaves turned golden and the air carried a crisp breeze, Ivana and her fiancé, an American, chose Bojnice Castle as the perfect venue for their intimate wedding. For Ivana, born in Slovakia, it was a way to connect her past with her present—an elegant, timeless location that bridged her Slovak roots with her new life in the United States. She wanted to give her American guests, including her husband-to-be’s family and friends, an unforgettable experience steeped in history and European charm.
A Groom from Hawaii and His Fairytale Castle Dream
Ivana’s groom, Steve, came from a place known for its paradise-like landscapes—Hawaii. For someone raised in one of the world’s most beautiful corners, where stunning beaches, lush greenery, and cascading waterfalls are the norm, you’d think he’d be hard to impress. He had previously envisioned his dream wedding in Hawaii, beneath one of the island’s famous waterfalls. It’s a place that 98% of people on Earth would dream of for their special day.
But when he and Ivana stepped inside Bojnice Castle, something changed. The castle’s grandeur, its storied past, and its ethereal beauty struck a chord with him in a way that even Hawaii’s natural wonders hadn’t. He described the experience as something out of a storybook—marrying the love of his life in an actual castle, with its towering turrets and medieval halls, was like a dream come true. Despite Hawaii’s natural beauty, he found himself even more enchanted by the magic of Bojnice Castle.

The couple’s October wedding was intimate, with only 18 guests—mostly from the groom’s home in the US, alongside Ivana’s family from Slovakia. The autumn theme enhanced the castle’s charm, as leaves turned golden and the air had a crisp, magical feel. Tatiana, the wedding planner, went above and beyond to make it an unforgettable experience for their guests, arranging a private castle tour the day before the wedding, followed by a cozy rehearsal dinner.
On the wedding day itself, the groom couldn’t contain his excitement. His usual laid-back, island vibe was replaced by sheer joy as Jan, the photographer, captured the couple’s special moments around the castle. As they posed in front and inside Bojnice’s stunning architecture, he marveled that this real-life fairytale had become his reality.
The ceremony took place in the castle’s Golden Hall, with its opulent, gold-adorned interior making for a breathtaking setting. The groom, who had always imagined something spectacular for his wedding, found that Bojnice Castle surpassed even his wildest dreams. The celebration continued at Meridiana Bojnice, a chic new venue in town, where the couple and their guests enjoyed a warm reception filled with Slovak hospitality and the autumnal elegance that defined the day.

Tatiana organized a perfect wedding for us in Bojnice. Everything was perfectly coordinated. Since it was an international wedding, with guests from the USA, it was more challenging from pick up from the airport in Vienna, to translations and presentations in both languages. The Americans and Slovaks loved and enjoyed Bojnice, the castle tour, the delicious Slovak food and of course our wedding which would not have been perfect without you, Tatiana and the Meridiana Bojnice resort team.
