After another bustling summer season, we knew it was time to recharge and seek new inspiration. And what better way to rejuvenate than doing what we love most: searching for romantic Italy wedding venues? Italy always calls to us, and this time, our adventure led us to the treasures of northern Italy, all accessible by car.

Driving through Italy is a must! It gives you unparalleled freedom—stop where and when you want, indulge in endless coffee breaks, and take all the luggage you need (yes, even oversized wedding props or gowns). The journey itself becomes part of the magic.
We began in Trieste, a charming city near the Slovenian border. Though primarily known as an industrial port, Trieste boasts a hidden gem: Miramare Castle. Perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, this fairytale-like castle has its own bay, serene gardens, and picturesque spots perfect for ceremonies and wedding photos. From the moment we saw it, we knew that if this were the only place we visited, it would already have been worth the trip.
From Trieste, we headed to Italy’s beloved northern lakes. After a scenic four-hour drive, we arrived at Lago di Garda, staying in a stunning stone villa overlooking the lake. This cozy villa, complete with a terrace, fireplace, and private waterfall, enchanted us. Garda offers the beauty of Lago di Como, but closer, more affordable, and equally breathtaking. It’s truly one of the most romantic Italy wedding venues we’ve seen for small, intimate celebrations.

The next day took us to Sirmione, a picturesque lakeside town on Garda’s southern shore. With its medieval castle and cobblestone streets, it’s a perfect backdrop for romantic weddings. We met with the event manager of a luxurious private villa perched above the town—a hidden gem with immaculate gardens, terraces, and even its own pier.

From the lakes, we ventured to Portofino, a coastal jewel famous for its pastel-colored cliffs and harbor. A private villa in nearby Rapallo became our retreat, where we discovered even more magical venues, including a castle and yet another enchanting villa.

Of course, no trip to northern Italy would be complete without visiting Lago di Como, where we explored iconic villas and historic gardens. Villa del Balbianello was the highlight—a dreamscape accessible only by boat, offering unparalleled romance and privacy. Among all the romantic Italy wedding venues, this one truly takes the crown for its dramatic landscapes and timeless elegance.

Our final stop was near Venice, at a majestic castle complete with a moat. The moment we crossed the drawbridge, we were enchanted. The castle’s baron welcomed us with open arms, sharing tales of the estate’s history and offering his award-winning wines.
